Introduction to the Internet and the Practice of
Law This intensive seminar is designed to help you understand how the Internet can be an
invaluable resource to your law practice. This seminar will provide you with insights on
how you can using the Internet to obtain information and do legal research, communicate
with clients, and develop your practice utilizing electronic methods. Through a live
online demonstration the seminar instructor will show you examples of law firm WEB sites,
how to send and receive E-mail, search for information, how to select and evaluate
an Internet service provider. How to use Internet searching tools to retrieve
documents and information in a law firm by creating an intranet will be also be discussed.
This is a introductory seminar who are ready to develop
a presence on the World Wide Web through a first-generation web site. This is a hands-on seminar that will enable you to
develop a homepage and a Website for your law firm. The fundamentals of creating an
Internet marketing strategy, developing a home page on the World Wide Web, selecting an
Web Internet hosting service, and publicizing your presence on the Internet are covered in
depth. Participants will develop a design for a home page and a web site.
Third party hosting services such as West, Lexis, and Findlaw.com are
evaluated in terms of their suitability for enabling a small law firm to
create an Internet presence quickly.
This one day course is an intensive briefing on how law firms are using advanced information technologies to increase productivity, provide better and faster services to clients, and lead less hectic, more holistic lives. Topics include: document management; contact management and scheduling software; automated document assembly; automated litigation support methods; techniques for working smarter, not faster; and managing internal law firm human and intellectual assets more effectively. This course is adapted to the type of organization and trainee, whether it be private law firm, legal services organization, or corporate legal department. Appropriate materials are provided depending on the type of organization.
